About the Role
Our client, a leading property and casualty insurance carrier in the mid-Atlantic region, is seeking an experienced Distribution Representative to support commercial lines sales and strengthen broker relationships in Pittsburg PA and Western New York. This role focuses on expanding distribution partnerships, driving new business, and promoting commercial insurance products in the assigned territory.
Job Description
As a Distribution Representative, you will serve as the primary liaison between the carrier and agency/broker partners. Your responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with commercial insurance brokers and agencies in the Pittsburgh and Western NY markets.
- Identifying and appointing new distribution partners based on existing relationships and business opportunities.
- Driving new business growth through upselling, cross-selling, and recapturing opportunities with agencies and brokers.
- Coordinating proposal meetings, presenting product options, and supporting pre-renewal discussions.
- Collaborating with underwriting to review competitor plans and ensure competitive pricing.
- Leading annual planning processes and monitoring progress throughout the year.
- Assisting with contracting, onboarding, and terminating agencies/brokers as needed.
- Representing the company at corporate functions, industry events, and community engagements.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years of commercial insurance experience with a carrier, specifically in Commercial Lines Marketing, Sales, Production Underwriting, Distribution, or Relationship Management.
- Strong network and established relationships with property and casualty insurance brokers in the Pittsburgh and Western NY region.
- Proven track record in selling standard commercial lines products.
- Knowledge of commercial insurance products, rating procedures, underwriting practices, and industry operations.
- Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks while meeting strategic goals.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Active producer license or willingness to obtain one within a defined timeframe.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Experience with carrier-side operations (State Farm experience not a fit for this role).
- Background in commercial underwriting combined with broker relationship management.
