- $75-90k
As our Senior Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in the financial management of our small nonprofit organization, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of our financial operations. This position requires a detail-oriented and analytical professional with a strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, affordable housing funding sources, and a commitment to our mission.
What you’ll do as the Senior Accountant:
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Generate reports for management, board of directors, and external stakeholders to support strategic decision-making
- Oversee financial aspects of grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with funding source requirements
- Manage the accounts payable process using bill.com, including processing invoices, verifying transactions, and reconciling discrepancies
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors while adhering to internal controls
- Manage credit card payments and appropriate coding and documenting of expenses
- Monitor and manage accounts receivable, invoicing, and collections processes
- Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payments
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including tax filings and reporting to funding agencies
- Conduct financial analyses to support organizational decision-making and identify areas for improvement
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred
- 3+ years of experience in nonprofit accounting, with a focus on affordable housing finance
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and compliance requirements
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
