About the Role
Our firm is partnering with a well-established organization specializing in multifamily and affordable housing property management to identify an experienced Area Manager. This role supports operational excellence across multiple residential communities and works closely with senior leadership to ensure compliance, strong financial and operational performance, and an exceptional resident experience.
The Area Manager is a key member of the operations leadership team and serves as a strategic partner to the Regional Manager, providing oversight, problem-solving support, and hands-on leadership across a portfolio of properties.
Job Description
The Area Manager is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and long-term performance across multiple communities while maintaining high standards of customer service, compliance, and team collaboration.
 Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with the Regional Manager to oversee operations across multiple residential communities, including serving as a backup when needed
- Responding to and resolving resident, community, and escalated ownership concerns in a timely and professional manner
- Assisting with internal and external property inspections; preparing reports and coordinating corrective action plans
- Supporting audit preparation and ongoing compliance initiatives
- Coordinating with operational department leaders to ensure timely completion of Section 8 recertifications and submission of required regulatory documentation
- Monitoring critical deadlines across assigned communities
- Collaborating with leasing leadership to support effective marketing initiatives, community outreach, and local business partnerships
- Assisting with customer support requests through the company’s ticketing system
- Supporting month-end reporting provided to ownership entities
- Ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Assisting with lease-ups, property takeovers, and transitions
- Coordinating with leadership and ownership on Capital Improvement Projects
- Supporting liability, incident, and legal reporting as needed
- Participating in special projects and additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 3–5+ years of experience managing multifamily communities of 200+ units for a professional property management company
- Proven leadership and team collaboration skills
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to resolve complex or sensitive issues
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Professional judgment, discretion, and sound decision-making abilities
- Experience with affordable housing programs, including Tax Credit and Section 8
- Experience using property management and support platforms such as Yardi, RentCafe, and Zendesk
- Demonstrated success supporting audits, inspections, or regulatory compliance activities
- Experience assisting with capital projects, lease-ups, or property transitions
