About the Role
Our client, a global leader in water, hygiene, and infection prevention solutions serving customers across food, healthcare, hospitality, and industrial markets, is seeking an Associate Credit Representative to join their credit and collections team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a background in commercial (B2B) collections who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining healthy account balances, resolving invoicing discrepancies, and supporting strong customer relationships.
Job Description
The Associate Credit Representative is responsible for locating and notifying customers of delinquent accounts through email, phone, and other communication channels to solicit payment. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to research and reconcile customer accounts independently after training. The representative will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify and resolve invoicing issues while maintaining a professional and solution-oriented approach when working with customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contacting customers regarding past due balances via email and phone.
- Listening to, identifying, and documenting invoicing issues, and communicating them to internal stakeholders.
- Researching and reconciling debits, credits, and payments on customer accounts.
- Receiving payments and posting amounts paid to customer accounts.
- Locating and monitoring overdue accounts.
- Conferring with customers to determine reasons for overdue payments and reviewing terms of sales, services, or credit contracts.
- Persuading customers to pay amounts due on credit accounts, damage claims, or non-payable checks, or to return merchandise.
- Arranging debt repayment or establishing repayment schedules based on customers' financial situations.
- Preparing statements for the credit department when customers do not respond.
- Maintaining accurate records of all collection activity.
- Handling difficult customer conversations in a professional manner.
- Demonstrating self-motivation to resolve past due balances independently after training.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of commercial (B2B) collections experience.
- Background in accounting to support research on debits and credits within customer accounts.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including basic commands for statement reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and related applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and stay self-motivated after training.
- Ability to accurately document and record customer and client information.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations related to collections.
- Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others in a team environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- SAP experience.
- GetPaid collections experience.
- College degree or 2–5 years of equivalent collections experience.
- Previous experience with Microsoft Word and other collections-related software.
