About the Role
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the industrial and metal fabrication space, is seeking a Scheduling Supervisor to oversee production planning and scheduling operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in aligning production capacity with customer demand while ensuring operational efficiency and on-time delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, leadership experience, and a deep understanding of manufacturing workflows, ERP systems, and continuous improvement practices.
Job Description
The Scheduling Supervisor is responsible for managing production schedules, leading Production Planners, and ensuring alignment between demand, capacity, and financial objectives. This role leverages data analysis, root cause evaluation, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize scheduling processes and drive operational performance. The position requires close coordination with supply chain, sales, finance, and operations teams to support business goals and maintain efficient production flow.
- Develop and manage department production schedules, ensuring smooth workflow across operational work centers
- Oversee Production Planners to ensure job orders are released and completed on time
- Align production load with capacity constraints across value streams
- Collaborate with Supply Chain to ensure demand signals match job requirements
- Coordinate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) into production schedules
- Identify and resolve capacity misalignment and scheduling disruptions
- Perform root cause analysis on material shortages, delays, and delivery issues
- Analyze production, capacity, and demand data to identify risks and optimization opportunities
- Drive discipline and accuracy in shop floor transactions and reporting
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including standard work development and scheduling process enhancements
- Support PFEP (Plan for Every Part) management in an ERP system within a make-to-stock environment
- Act as a subject matter expert in ERP/MRP systems to improve scheduling accuracy and efficiency
- Lead, coach, and hold team members accountable for performance and results
- Ensure alignment across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operations to achieve business targets
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in production scheduling, planning, or a related role within a manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field
- Strong understanding of production processes, capacity planning, and operational workflows
- Experience using ERP and MRP systems for production planning and scheduling
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, pivot tables, and scenario evaluation
- Proven ability to analyze data, perform root cause analysis, and drive process improvements
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and resolve conflict
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
- Experience supervising or leading a team in a manufacturing or production planning environment
- Familiarity with PFEP (Plan for Every Part) methodologies
- Experience in a make-to-stock production environment
- Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives and standardize processes
