About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization in the financial services sector that specializes in account resolution and client remittance. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, detail-oriented environment where accuracy and timeliness are key. The Cash Application Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of payment processing and client billing operations.
This is an independent contributor role that supports a collaborative team. Ideal candidates will have prior experience in banking, accounts receivable, or cash applications, and enjoy working with numbers, systems, and processes.
Job Description
As a Cash Application Specialist, you will be a shared resource across the Payment Processing and Remittance teams. You’ll be responsible for posting payments, balancing batches, transferring funds, and preparing client remittance statements. You’ll also support reporting, reconciliation, and assist with training and process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Post payments (checks, credit cards, ACH) and balance batches daily
- Deposit checks and initiate fund transfers to client accounts
- Resolve payment issues (e.g., postdated checks, closed accounts)
- Compile and distribute daily collection reports
- Issue checks for client deposits and refunds
- Prepare and send client remittance statements and documentation
- Verify fund availability and remit via check, wire, or ACH
- Import fees to create daily A/R entries in accounting software
- Support scanning and documentation processes
- Assist in training new team members
- Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and privacy policies
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience in accounting, banking, or payment processing
- Strong understanding of debits, credits, and money movement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
- Ability to work independently while supporting a team
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate degree in Accounting or related field
- Experience with A/R or Cash Applications
- Familiarity with FACS Collection Software and Navision G/L
- Experience with bank portals (ACH, reports, images)
- Prior use of Desktop Deposit systems
- Background in credit and collections
