- Compensation: $140,000-160,000 DOE
Controller Job Description:
This position is responsible for the Corporate Accounting, Human Resource and Risk Management functions of the company as well as a strategic financial resource for owners and corporate staff. Your organization skills, problem solving and attention to details will help you handle a wide variety of tasks.Â
What you will do as a Controller:
- Manage and maintain the corporate accounting function for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial information, including but not limited to internal and external monthly and annual financial statements and reports, annual tax returns, and annual budgets
- Work closely with the owners and be a key part of the executive team in strategic financial and tax planning activities
- Maintain general ledger and corporate accounting systems and controls to verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data
- Prepare and manage payroll and related benefits for 15+ staff
- Manage corporate insurance programs, tax and reporting functions, and CPA firm relationship
- Coordinate preparation of year end taxes and regular tax planning with owners
- Assist with other high-profile projects including complex financial modeling, development project funding, and owner communications
- Lead and manage corporate enterprise software system initiatives that make the team and company more efficient
- Maintain controls and efficient processing of cash/treasury management returns and transactions
- Responsible for corporate bank relationships and reporting compliance, including loan covenants
- Bachelor’s degree required, with emphasis on accounting and finance
- 7+ years of related work experience, preferably in multifamily property management or real estate
- 3+ years supervisory experience required
- Enterprise software management experience, including software evaluation and conversion experience
- Strong financial statement, general ledger, cash flow, and accounting systems knowledge with the ability to summarize concepts as well as dig into the details when required
- Proficient computer skills, including operating a Windows and MS Office-based environment with above-average spreadsheet skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated capacity to communicate with technical outside parties
- Possess a high level of investigative and problem-solving skills
- Able to work with frequent interruptions and appropriately use initiative in all aspects of the role
