We are partnering with a leading manufacturer in the powersports and automotive sector to hire a Control Technologist / Engineer. This role supports advanced industrial control systems that drive high-volume, highly automated production operations. You will play a key role in ensuring that manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and related technologies are optimized for performance, reliability, and safety.

This position is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys troubleshooting, and is passionate about continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
Job Description
The Control Technologist / Engineer will be responsible for technical support, programming, installation, and optimization of industrial controls used throughout the manufacturing process. This includes working closely with maintenance teams, production staff, and engineering groups to drive automation initiatives and maintain equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Install and commission control systems on new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform PLC and HMI program modifications to support process improvements and equipment performance.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and recommend automation-based improvements.
  • Train maintenance technicians on basic PLC and controls troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers on the design and development of new tooling, equipment, and long-range engineering plans.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair controls-related production equipment issues.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for controls systems, including operation and maintenance guides.
  • Provide guidance to production and maintenance personnel on control system operations and programming.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • Allen-Bradley PLCs: ControlLogix, MicroLogix
  • Allen-Bradley HMIs: PanelView Plus
  • Allen-Bradley VFDs
  • Troubleshooting/commissioning fieldbus networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet)
  • Creating/modifying electrical schematics using AutoCAD
  • Industrial equipment troubleshooting and design
  • Electrical panel building
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Cognex, Keyence, or similar machine vision/inspection systems
  • Advanced knowledge of industrial automation best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to train others in controls operation and maintenance
