Director of Cost Accounting and Decisions Job Summary
This role oversees the organization's cost accounting and financial decision support services for various service lines. The position entails leading a team to maintain data accuracy and enhance the detail and sophistication of financial reports. Additionally, you will collaborate with other finance teams to ensure data consistency and alignment. The role emphasizes leveraging cost and service line financial data in decision-making processes. It also involves upholding and promoting patient safety and other safety standards, as well as adhering to family-centered care principles in interactions with patients, their families, and colleagues.

Director of Cost Accounting and Decisions Job Summary
This role oversees the organization's cost accounting and financial decision support services for various service lines. The position entails leading a team to maintain data accuracy and enhance the detail and sophistication of financial reports. Additionally, you will collaborate with other finance teams to ensure data consistency and alignment. The role emphasizes leveraging cost and service line financial data in decision-making processes. It also involves upholding and promoting patient safety and other safety standards, as well as adhering to family-centered care principles in interactions with patients, their families, and colleagues.
What you will do as the Director of Cost Accounting and Decisions:
- Create and manage a plan to continuously improve level of cost accounting granularity and accuracy
- Work with decision support software supplier to ensure optimization of software
- Manage the preparation and distribution of service line and patient level financial reports
- Work with IT to manage Epic data feeds and data reconciliation into costing system to ensure accurate reporting
- Work closely with financial support services and financial planning and analysis teams to ensure alignment and consistency of data and information
- Lead training initiatives to continuously improve organization’s understanding of financial decision support
- Develop long and short-term goals for areas of responsibility, in conjunction with strategic plan in response to customer needs
- Lead staff in completing month end reconciliation and reporting for leadership
- Produce and distribute financial data, report and analysis for leadership and actively works to develop acumen for service line leaders to allow better decision making
What you’ll bring to the Director of Cost Accounting and Decisions role:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or business-related field
- 2+ years of financial systems management, cost accounting, and decision support system experience
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Supervisory experience is preferred
