Job Description
- Worksite Location: Sioux Falls, ND
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; days with possible evening/weekend involvement
- Compensation: $120-155k
The Finance Director is responsible for the strategic execution of all financial reporting, general accounting, statutory reporting, financial audits, tax compliance, and FSA/HSA Administration services.
What you’ll do as the Director of Finance:
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, processes, and procedures for internal and external Financial Reporting, Accounting, and Taxation
- Review monthly financial statements, product line income statements, and all standard monthly financial reports to identify potential errors or inconsistencies
- Direct the resolution of issues before final financial reporting packages are completed and distributed
- Strategically design, implement, and maintain the reporting structure including general ledger architecture and reporting tools such as Axiom
- Direct and review all monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting procedures and reporting including statutory report preparation, audit preparation, tax return preparation, 1099’s, unclaimed property, 990, sales tax, and premium tax returns, and other external and internal reporting
- Direct compliance with accounting principles and GAAP and statutory reporting regulations for all legal entities
- Analyze new agreements, contracts, and regulations for appropriate accounting treatment
- Direct staff to ensure reconciliation of all AID balance sheet accounts, periodically reviewing detailed reconciliations
- Direct and lead the financial process for long-range financial plans, annual operating plans, and forecasting in conjunction with timelines and requirements
- Direct staff in monitoring performance against operating plan/budget and ensure leaders understand the steps being taken to manage the health plan operations to financial targets
- Direct financial analyses and recommendation development regarding strategic programs and services including analysis and strategic recommendations based on product line profitability and assessment of cost efficiency of function relative to financial resources consumed
- Ensure reconciliations with all governmental programs and proper cost identification methodologies to ensure proper reimbursement or payment
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- A working knowledge of Finance and Accounting systems
- 5+ years of extensive experience in related fields and managerial experience required.
- A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate
- A valid driver’s license
- Experience with a national accounting firm preferred
