Financial Controller Job Description:
The Controller will be responsible for the oversight of the finance department and includes maintenance and administration of the general accounting systems, such as upkeep of the general ledger, preparation, analysis, consolidation of financial records, and submission of accurate and timely data for financial reporting purposes. The individual in this role will also be responsible for supervising staff who perform accounting activities such as preparing and posting entries to the general ledger, preparing account reconciliations, payroll, billing and performing month-end close responsibilities.

- Compensation: $80,000-$100,000 per year
Financial Controller Job Description:
The Controller will be responsible for the oversight of the finance department and includes maintenance and administration of the general accounting systems, such as upkeep of the general ledger, preparation, analysis, consolidation of financial records, and submission of accurate and timely data for financial reporting purposes. The individual in this role will also be responsible for supervising staff who perform accounting activities such as preparing and posting entries to the general ledger, preparing account reconciliations, payroll, billing and performing month-end close responsibilities.
What you will do as a Financial Controller:
- Work alongside senior management to ensure company growth and uphold company standards
- Plan, direct and execute all regular accounting operational functions including month-end accounting, reconciliation, financial statement reports for internal and external use
- Prepare/review regulatory filings and audited financials
- Coordinate and assist with the annual audits by internal and external auditors in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards
- Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets
- Prepare and negotiate contracted rates and renewals for individuals served
- Oversee cash and treasury management; prepares cash-flow forecasts to project cash needs at monthly and quarterly intervals
- Monitor debt levels and compliance with bank lending debt covenants and ensures compliance with all reporting requirements
- Assist with annual commercial insurance renewal, providing financial data to support appropriate coverages by line of insurance
- Apply for eligible grants to enhance the operations of the organization
What you will bring to the role as a Financial Controller:
- Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Licensed CPA, and public accounting experience is preferred
- 5+ years of total experience in public accounting and industry, prefer some healthcare industry experience specifically Community Residential Services
- Technical and theoretical knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Demonstrated leadership skills working with and supervising a team; ability to set and achieve departmental goals and drive transformational change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word and other Microsoft Office Suite tools
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, lead process improvement teams, and work independently with minimal supervision
