This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a consultative capacity, managing multiple client relationships, and delivering practical, compliance-driven HR solutions.
Unlike a traditional in-house HR role, this position partners with multiple client organizations, serving as a trusted advisor to owners, executives, and managers. Success requires adaptability, strong judgment, and the ability to shift seamlessly between diverse workplace cultures and business needs.

Job Description
The HR Business Partner collaborates closely with client leadership teams to deliver strategic and operational HR support aligned with organizational goals and employee needs. This role serves as the primary HR contact for assigned clients, providing guidance on employment law, employee relations, talent management, and compliance while strengthening workplace culture and organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Client Partnership & Advisory
  • Build and maintain strong consultative relationships with client leadership to understand business goals, culture, and workforce challenges
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact, advising on policies, procedures, and employee-related matters
  • Coach supervisors and employees on HR best practices while balancing business needs, employee goodwill, and compliance
HR Strategy & Workforce Support
  • Align HR strategies with client business objectives, including workforce planning and organizational development
  • Conduct regular HR reviews to identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities
  • Recommend and implement updated HR policies and processes to improve efficiency and service delivery
Talent Management & Employee Relations
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, engagement, and retention strategies
  • Guide managers through employee coaching, discipline, documentation, and performance discussions
  • Investigate and resolve employee concerns and grievances while minimizing risk
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure client compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Develop, update, and customize employee handbooks, job descriptions, and HR policies
  • Manage investigations, maintain HR records, and represent clients during hearings when required
Training & Development
  • Support implementation of client training initiatives, including compliance and performance management
  • Advise on employee development plans and effective performance review practices
Community Engagement & Market Presence
  • Represent the organization within the local business community through chambers, professional associations, and industry events
  • Develop referral relationships with CPAs, attorneys, and other professional partners
  • Participate in trade shows, networking events, and selected after-hours engagements
  • Time allocation initially includes approximately 70% HR Business Partner work and 30% community and referral development, subject to change as the client base grows
  • Participation in market development activities may qualify for performance-based incentive opportunities
Safety, Wellness & Client Education Support
  • Help communicate safety, wellness, and risk-management programs using company-provided tools and materials
  • Facilitate client access to internal subject-matter experts and resources
  • Support educational sessions focused on safety culture, wellbeing, and risk awareness

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • HR certification required (SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent)
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience; experience supporting multiple locations or clients strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Demonstrated experience working with HRIS platforms
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and compliance
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to remain professional and effective in a fast-paced, interruption-heavy environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally, including onboarding travel and approximately one overnight stay per month
Preferred
  • Experience in a PEO environment or industry settings such as manufacturing
  • Experience providing consultative HR support to leadership teams
  • Familiarity with client-facing or advisory HR roles
