Human Resources Generalist Job Description:
The main function of a human resources generalist is perform the administrative functions, such as employee benefits, recruiting and interviewing, along with strategic planning and policy management. A typical human resources generalist is responsible for enhancing company productivity, increasing performance and improving business results.
What you’ll do as a Human Resources Generalist:
• Act as a point of escalation for questions, interpreting, and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems.
• Instruct staff on how to advise management on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment.
• Resolve disputes and administer disciplinary procedures.
• Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures.
• Plan, direct and supervise and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labor relations and employee relations.
• Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
• Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems, and safety and recreation programs.
What you’ll bring to the Human Resources Generalist role:
• Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Expert ability to work independently and manage one’s time.
• Expert knowledge of legal policies and procedures related to hiring practices (i.e., equal employment opportunity and affirmative action).
• Expert knowledge of benefit and pay-scale systems.
• Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.
• Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience required.
• 10+ years customer service related experience required.
