About the Role
Our client, a leading national retailer with a large-scale digital and e-commerce footprint, is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer – Risk Reduction to support enterprise cloud remediation efforts. This role focuses on strengthening security across complex, multi-cloud environments by identifying, prioritizing, and resolving critical risks. Working at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and automation, you will play a key role in improving the security posture of cloud platforms (primarily GCP, with exposure to Azure and AWS).


Job Description
The Cloud Security Engineer will be responsible for driving the remediation of security vulnerabilities across large-scale cloud environments. This includes addressing prioritized issues, implementing scalable fixes, and partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure long-term risk reduction.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and execute remediation strategies for high-priority cloud security issues across GCP, Azure, and AWS environments
  • Update and maintain Terraform codebases to implement secure infrastructure changes across multiple projects
  • Create and execute automation scripts and pipelines to resolve recurring issues at scale
  • Coordinate with engineering and infrastructure teams to rotate and secure compromised or mismanaged secrets
  • Identify and address root causes of security vulnerabilities to prevent recurrence in future deployments
  • Validate and verify that remediation efforts have been completed across systems and environments
  • Collaborate across cloud infrastructure, networking, backend systems, and data engineering teams to deliver scalable security solutions
  • Analyze existing architecture and repositories to anticipate risks, dependencies, and potential service impacts during remediation efforts


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Proven experience writing automation scripts and/or pipelines specifically in GCP environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience writing production-level Terraform code in complex environments (e.g., 100+ GCP projects)
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure and networking, including on-prem and cloud environments (SDN, compute, storage, databases, IAM)
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code, scripting, and CI/CD practices
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and the ability to assess risk, dependencies, and remediation impacts
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams and explain concepts clearly
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving cloud technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Azure or AWS environments
  • Familiarity with tools such as GitHub or Atlantis
  • Direct experience in cloud security engineering or security remediation initiatives
  • A background that combines both infrastructure engineering and security disciplines
