Our client, a long-standing organization in the commercial insurance industry, is seeking an experienced IT Sr. Project Manager to lead complex, technology-driven initiatives. This position requires a blend of technical understanding, strong project leadership, and the ability to drive organizational change. The ideal candidate is proactive, challenges ideas to ensure quality outcomes, removes barriers to progress, and excels at aligning both business and technology partners.
Job Description
In this role, you will lead medium-to-large IT projects from initiation through deployment, ensuring successful delivery and measurable business outcomes. You will guide delivery teams, facilitate Agile ceremonies, support organizational change management, and provide clear communication between IT and business stakeholders. The position requires strong technical aptitude, risk assessment capability, and ownership of results from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities include:
Project Leadership and Delivery
- Lead medium-to-large IT projects from initiation through deployment with a focus on outcomes over activity tracking.
- Plan, prioritize, and guide delivery teams toward successful execution.
- Ensure clarity and alignment of project requirements across technical and business stakeholders.
- Lead or facilitate sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile ceremonies as needed.
- Maintain a strong understanding of underlying technologies to engage in technical discussions.
- Assess risks and tradeoffs, including business and operational impacts of design or testing changes.
- Participate in reviewing and validating technical designs to ensure architectural integrity.
- Lead organizational change management activities such as communications, stakeholder engagement, and training readiness.
- Support business partners in preparing for and adopting new systems, processes, or technologies.
- Serve as the primary liaison between IT and business partners to ensure alignment and transparency.
- Communicate risks, issues, decisions, and progress clearly at all levels of the organization.
- Navigate ambiguity and guide teams toward informed, shared decisions.
- Take full ownership of project results to ensure outcomes meet strategic and business goals.
- Drive teams toward commitments and proactively remove barriers to progress.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of project management experience delivering technology-focused projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, manage ambiguity, and deliver strong results.
- Experience with organizational change management practices.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand and articulate technology risks and design considerations.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry.
- Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies, including facilitating ceremonies or working within Scrum teams.
