This Employee Benefits Account Manager role is responsible for managing and servicing existing client relationships while ensuring a high-quality client experience across all employee benefits offerings.
Job Description
The Employee Benefits Account Manager builds and maintains strong relationships with assigned clients and carrier partners. This role serves as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, ensuring benefits programs are accurately administered, client requests are handled promptly, and opportunities to improve coverage and service are identified.
The Account Manager works closely with Account Executives and internal service teams, proactively supporting renewals, new business activity, and ongoing client needs while representing the organization’s values and service standards.
Responsibilities include:
  • Respond to client inquiries via phone, email, mail, and other communication channels in a timely and professional manner
  • Prepare invoices, binders, certificates, change requests, and related service documents in accordance with service standards
  • Proactively communicate with clients through scheduled outreach and ongoing service interactions
  • Assist clients with managing benefit-related exposures and ensuring coverage accuracy
  • Prepare premium quotes for prospects and existing clients following departmental procedures
  • Support the collection process for agency-billed items
  • Prepare proposals for new and renewal small group benefits accounts
  • Utilize and promote digital and environmentally friendly service options
  • Maintain accurate client data in the agency management system and electronic files
  • Monitor voicemail, inboxes, and assigned activities to meet service expectations
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with carrier partners
  • Participate in department meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities
  • Represent the organization positively within the community and insurance industry
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to efficiency and service enhancements
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong communication, organizational, and client service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree (two-year college or technical program) or equivalent work experience
  • At least 6 months of experience in a customer-facing role
  • At least 6 months of experience in the insurance or employee benefits industry
