About the Role
Our firm is partnering with a well-established, independent insurance advisory organization to identify an experienced Employee Benefits Account Executive. This organization has been serving employers for decades and is recognized for delivering strategic, consultative insurance and risk solutions to a diverse client base across the U.S. and globally.
This role serves as the strategic lead for employee benefits clients, owning the long-term benefits roadmap and ensuring programs align with each client’s business objectives. The Account Executive is responsible for overseeing service delivery, driving renewal strategy, strengthening carrier partnerships, and identifying opportunities for growth through cross-selling and account expansion.
Job Description
The Employee Benefits Account Executive leads and manages the full client lifecycle, from pre-sale support through renewal, open enrollment, and ongoing stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Sale & Prospecting
- Support validated mid-market prospects by reviewing current benefits strategy and aligning solutions to the firm’s value proposition
- Assist with capabilities meetings, microsite content, and consulting/service agreement development
- Participate in internal and client-facing onboarding meetings
- Establish service calendars and schedule initial quarterly meetings
- Conduct compliance assessments
- Coordinate analytics and reporting integrations with internal consultants
- Develop and maintain multi-year employee benefits strategies
- Identify renewal and benchmarking needs
- Collaborate with analytics teams to deliver trend and performance reports
- Lead strategy meetings and document decisions and action items
- Develop and present pre-renewal and renewal strategies
- Coordinate marketing efforts with internal teams and carrier partners
- Build renewal timelines, manage expectations, and oversee carrier negotiations
- Identify account rounding and cross-sell opportunities
- Ensure smooth handoff to service teams
- Review and approve renewal and enrollment materials
- Participate in open enrollment meetings and presentations
- Lead post-enrollment stewardship meetings
- Oversee service quality and resolve escalated issues
- Provide client financial insights and regulatory updates when applicable
- Audit and deliver required compliance items, including disclosures and fees
- Act as a mentor to junior team members
- Foster strong client and carrier relationships
- Participate in training, internal projects, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate documentation within the agency management system
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in group employee benefits
- Active Life & Health insurance license
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), video conferencing tools, and agency management systems
- Ability to travel as needed and attend industry meetings
- Experience leading mid-market or complex employee benefits accounts
- Background in consultative benefits strategy and analytics-based decision making
- Mentoring or team leadership experience
