About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm that specializes in employee benefits solutions for complex employer groups. This organization is known for its consultative approach, data-driven insights, and long-term client partnerships.
The Large Group Benefit Analyst supports large employer clients by analyzing medical claims data and translating complex information into actionable insights. The role works closely with Client Executives and internal service teams to support renewals, plan evaluations, and strategic benefit decisions. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who thrives in a client-facing environment and enjoys balancing independent work with collaboration.
Job Description
In this role, you will serve as a key analytical resource, helping large employer clients understand their claims experience, identify cost drivers, and make informed benefits decisions. You will analyze complex data sets, create client-facing reports and dashboards, and support renewal and market strategies across a variety of funding arrangements.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Participate in client-facing meetings such as renewal reviews, claims reviews, and strategic planning discussions 
  • Partner with Client Executives to present and explain claims trends, utilization patterns, and financial drivers
  • Support large employer groups (typically 100+ covered lives) across fully insured, self-funded, level-funded, reference-based pricing (RBP), and alternative funding solutions such as direct primary care (DPC)
  • Perform detailed claims analysis using internal and external analytics and reporting tools
  • Analyze large and complex claims data to identify trends, cost drivers, and opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare and deliver monthly and ad-hoc claims and utilization reports, including written observations and insights
  • Translate claims data into actionable recommendations that support renewals, plan design reviews, and long-term cost management
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of claims and enrollment data through validation and ongoing maintenance
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance client-facing dashboards and benchmarking reports using approved analytics platforms
  • Utilize comparative and benchmarking tools to provide performance context for clients and internal teams
  • Support renewal development through analysis of claims experience, underwriting results, and funding outcomes
  • Assist with RFP development and coordinate with carriers on submissions and quotation status
  • Prepare financial summaries and analytical insights to support carrier negotiations and plan recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal analytics, service, and client teams to ensure reporting consistency and alignment
  • Contribute ideas for process improvements, reporting enhancements, and increased efficiency
  • Participate in department projects and initiatives as assigned

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • 5–7 years of experience in employee group benefits (Health, Dental, Vision), including support of large employer clients
  • Self Funded Plan experience highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of medical claims data, funding arrangements, renewals, and carrier underwriting
  • Demonstrated experience using claims analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to explain findings to non-technical audiences
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a client-facing environment
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with carrier underwriting tools within employee benefits
  • Familiarity with agency management systems
  • Experience developing and presenting client-facing dashboards and benchmark analyses
  • Comfort presenting complex information to internal stakeholders and client leadership
