Network Engineer Job Description:
The main function of the Network Engineer is to determine user requirements and design specifications for computer networks. This position is responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades.
What you’ll do as a Network Engineer:
- Adjust network sizes to meet volume or capacity demands
- Communicate with customers, sales staff, or marketing staff to determine customer needs
- Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades
- Design, build, or operate equipment configuration prototypes, including network hardware, software, servers, or server operation systems
- Determine specific network hardware or software requirements such as platforms, interfaces, bandwidths, or routine schemas
- Develop and implement solutions for network problems
- Support deployments, monitoring, and maintenance of network hardware, software, and communication links focusing on Odessa and Midland, TX facilities
- Monitor and analyze performance and problems that occur in the corporate network
- Oversee network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information
- Test network performance and provide network performance statistics and reports
What you’ll bring to the Network Engineer role:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of related work experience
- CCNA or CCNP certification
- 2+ years’ experience in effectively managing small to large projects in a cross-functional environment
- 2+ years’ experience in effectively communicating with a broad base of end users and multiple management layers
- Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs
- Ability to anticipate user requirements and identify and resolve complex problems with minimal supervision, strong customer service, and communication skills
