About the Role
Our staffing firm is partnering with a Saint Paul, MN-based organization to fill an immediate need for a Payroll Specialist. This is a contract role with strong potential to convert to a permanent position, which may expand into a blended Payroll/HR function. The ideal candidate is ready to hit the ground running and take ownership of payroll operations from day one.
Job Description
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires someone who can step in quickly, learn existing processes, and provide reliable support to the team. As the position evolves, there may be opportunities to take on additional HR-related responsibilities, making this an excellent fit for a professional looking to grow into a broader payroll/HR role.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure employees are paid accurately, deductions are properly applied, and payroll records are maintained with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience processing full-cycle payroll in a professional environment
- Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements
- High attention to detail and accuracy when handling sensitive employee data
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with payroll and HR information
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now payroll software
- Background or exposure to HR functions (benefits administration, onboarding, employee relations, etc.)
- Previous experience in a role that blended payroll and HR responsibilities
- Interest in a long-term, permanent opportunity
