Plant Accounting Supervisor

Job Description
- Worksite Location: Wakefield, NE
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for a variety of financial, accounting, and reporting functions including, but not limited to, general ledger, accounts payable, sales tax compliance, SOX compliance, capital spending, fixed assets, budgeting, analysis, and preserving the integrity of internal controls. The position directs and supervises accounts payable and plays a key role in fixed asset management. This position has the responsibility to always comply with safety work rules and an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Â
What you’ll do as the Plant Accounting Supervisor:
- Supervise the accounts payable function to ensure that payables are processed in accordance with company policies
- Ensure cross-training of accounts payable staff and current job documentation of self and staff
- Maintain the general ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles by verifying posted transactions, preparing journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts
- Assist in asset management including, capital budget preparation, CPR preparation and related analysis, placing assets in service, fixed asset schedule review and verification
- Assume personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for everyone, adhere to all safety policies and procedures, and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks
- Participate in SRMP
- Adhere to Quality work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure that product quality is maintained
- Report any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality to management
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
- 3+ years accounting experience preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred
- Demonstrated aptitude for utilization of computer technologies, particularly Excel
- Demonstrated aptitude for effectively supervising and/or directing the work of others
