Product Manager Job Description:
Product Managers are an expert in their assigned product category and work with multiple teams, internal resources and Management stakeholders to develop a product strategy for the product category. This role is responsible for all aspects of daily management of assigned vendors and internal resources specific to the category. A Product Manager is responsible for product selection, implementation and category profitability. The Product Manager plans, organizes and ensures their product categories meet the standards of the company, and exceeds company goals in product performance, customer satisfaction and sales performance.
What you’ll do as the Product Manager:
- Analyze sales volume performance, add/remove products to the category, and manage SKUs in the inventory system
- Oversee product mapping, market trend analysis, and competitor activity
- Collaborate with the Data and Catalog teams to maintain accurate product fitment information for catalogs and online listings
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics to maintain inventory that aligns with ROI and AOP objectives
- Devise strategies for the disposition of discontinued products and the removal/rotation of dead or excess inventory
- Conduct sales forecasting for purchasing and logistics planning
- Ensure timely fulfillment of market trends and product launch strategies by working closely with Purchasing and Sales teams
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimize inventory placement, minimize costs, and ensure smooth product launch events
- Manage profit/loss responsibilities for the product category, ensuring profitability aligns with business plans and market competitiveness
- Align vendor negotiations, inventory commitments, and pricing with corporate goals
- Manage content for catalog production by gathering product data and images
What you’ll bring to the Product Manager role:
- Strong analytical skills for portfolio and inventory management
- Proficiency in sales forecasting, market research, and competitor analysis
- Experience managing vendor relationships and supply chain operations
- P&L management experience with a focus on meeting profit margin expectations
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, and Catalog teams
- Proficient in CMS database management and catalog production processes
