About the Role
Our client, a large national retailer leveraging data and technology to enhance customer experience and business performance, is seeking a Product Manager – Analytics to join their team. This role sits within the product management function, where data- and technology-based products are defined, developed, and managed from concept through launch and ongoing optimization. The Product Manager will play a key role in shaping data products that drive business outcomes, partnering with analytics, engineering, and data teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and impactful solutions.
This position is remote or hybrid eligible.
Job Description
The Product Manager – Analytics will plan, develop, and implement new products while managing cross-organizational efforts to secure alignment, approval, and successful delivery. This role partners closely with analytics, engineering, data governance, data architecture, data science, and source-producing teams to ensure data products are accurate, reliable, well-documented, compliant, scalable, and usable by downstream consumers.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Gathering input from customers, stakeholders, business partners, analytics teams, engineering teams, and data-producing teams to define product concepts, user needs, business outcomes, and success metrics.
  • Justifying product investments, defining and analyzing markets, evaluating technologies, and developing detailed product features, requirements, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
  • Understanding the underlying data for data products, including data sources, definitions, quality, lineage, availability, and usage patterns.
  • Working hands-on with data using tools such as SQL, data catalogs, data management platforms, business intelligence tools, dashboards, and visualization tools to analyze product performance, validate requirements, identify trends, investigate issues, and communicate insights.
  • Leading cross-functional teams to envision new product features, define data and technical requirements, prioritize work, and deliver products that meet business, customer, and operational needs.
  • Coordinating among a wide range of internal and external resources to ensure products are delivered according to specifications, within budget, and on schedule.
  • Monitoring product performance after launch and using data-driven insights to recommend improvements.
  • Ensuring products continue to meet evolving user needs, business goals, data quality standards, and technology requirements.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in product management, with a focus on data-based products.
  • Experience working with data governance, data architecture, and data science teams to deliver compliant and scalable data products.
  • Hands-on proficiency with SQL and experience working with data catalogs, data management platforms, business intelligence tools, dashboards, and visualization tools.
  • Strong understanding of data sources, definitions, quality, lineage, availability, and usage patterns.
  • Demonstrated ability to define product concepts, user needs, business outcomes, and success metrics.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through the full product lifecycle, from concept through launch and post-launch optimization.
  • Ability to gather and translate input from customers, stakeholders, business partners, analytics, engineering, and data-producing teams into actionable requirements and roadmaps.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Background in evaluating technologies, justifying product investments, and analyzing markets.
  • Experience in the retail industry or with consumer-focused data products.
  • Familiarity with agile product development methodologies.
  • Experience monitoring product performance post-launch and using data-driven insights to drive continuous improvement.
