About the Role
Our client, a leading organization in the healthcare payer industry headquartered in the Twin Cities area, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead high-impact transformation initiatives. This role supports enterprise-wide efforts tied to strategic growth, regulatory compliance, and operational improvement within a complex, fast-paced environment.
This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, and all candidates must be eligible and interested in converting to a full-time role without sponsorship.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in the payer space, thrives in ambiguous environments, and demonstrates a high degree of ownership, autonomy, and initiative.
Job Description
The Project Manager is responsible for leading cross-functional, enterprise transformation projects from initiation through delivery. This role ensures alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and operational priorities, while driving execution across multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment to scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to define scope, milestones, resource needs, and desired outcomes
- Develop and maintain project plans, including critical paths, timelines, and milestone tracking
- Coordinate efforts across business readiness, technology delivery, communications, and process design teams
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to executive stakeholders and governance groups
- Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and issues; facilitate resolutions and escalate as necessary
- Ensure alignment across multiple business units and Agile Release Trains (ARTs), partnering with Product Management
- Hold cross-functional teams accountable for deliverables and commitments while removing obstacles to progress
- Manage project financials, including budget tracking, forecasting, and expense oversight
- Support development of business cases in collaboration with finance, technology, and program leadership
- Lead stakeholder engagement efforts, including executive communications and cross-functional coordination
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors to drive successful outcomes
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in the healthcare payer space
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of Medicare, CMS, STARS, and/or Risk Adjustment processes
- 5+ years of experience managing complex, cross-departmental programs
- Proven experience leading strategic or transformation initiatives across large organizations
- Experience managing project budgets exceeding $1M
- Ability to lead large, cross-functional teams (10–50+ stakeholders across business, technology, and operations)
- End-to-end project delivery experience using Agile methodologies
- Strong executive communication skills, including experience developing presentations and status reporting
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
- Experience supporting healthcare-related initiatives, ideally within a payer organization
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience supporting high-visibility enterprise transformation programs
- Proven ability to operate independently with strong initiative and proactive problem-solving skills
