Our firm is partnering with a leading nonprofit health plan organization headquartered in the Twin Cities metro area to identify a Proposal Benefits Analyst. This role supports commercial group business by developing accurate, compliant, and customer-ready proposal materials that help organizations make informed health plan decisions. The position plays a critical role in translating complex benefit designs into clear, reliable documentation for brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders.

Job Description
The Proposal Benefits Analyst is responsible for producing new and renewal proposal materials for large group customers. This role partners closely with sales executives, underwriting, and operational teams to ensure proposal accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Generating and auditing self-funded large group new business and renewal proposal exhibits
  • Consulting with sales and underwriting partners to interpret proposal requests and prepare complete proposal packages, including alternative quotes
  • Preparing and maintaining Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) documents, benefit change grids, and related benefit materials
  • Reviewing and aligning benefit language across certificates of coverage (COCs), benefit plan language (BPL), and member-facing systems
  • Ensuring compliance with federal regulations and internal standard operating procedures
  • Monitoring workflows and proposal assignments to meet required turnaround times
  • Serving as a subject matter resource for proposal and benefit documentation processes
  • Supporting project work, including testing, implementation planning, and documentation
  • Maintaining accurate proposal records and project documentation
The role requires strong attention to detail, independent judgment, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while operating under deadlines.
Qualifications
Required
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 1–3 years of experience in health insurance or a related field (e.g., benefits administration, account management, customer service, or sales)
  • Hands-on experience with self-funded large group health insurance (required)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • General understanding of sales support, underwriting, and account management processes
Preferred
  • Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform for task or workflow management
  • Familiarity with SBCs, COCs, benefit change grids, and benefit plan language
  • Experience working with proposal documentation tools and Adobe products
  • Ability to thrive in a changing, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Proven relationship-building skills across varying levels of an organization
