About the Role
Our client, an established manufacturer and retailer in the footwear and workwear industry, is seeking an entry-level Sales Development Representative to support customer engagement and sales growth initiatives. This individual will connect with prospective and existing customers, qualify sales opportunities, and schedule appointments for the appropriate sales representatives.
The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable conducting outbound outreach by phone and email. Success in this role requires a consistent approach to follow-up, a willingness to receive coaching, and the ability to remain focused and productive in a remote work environment.
Job Description
The Sales Development Representative will manage inbound inquiries, conduct outbound cold calls, and perform wellness checks with existing customers. The primary objective is to identify customer needs, qualify interest, and convert conversations into actionable sales opportunities. This individual will work closely with the sales team to ensure qualified prospects are connected with the appropriate representative.
Responsibilities include:
  • Qualify inbound leads received through websites, retail locations, marketing campaigns, phone calls, email inquiries, and other channels.
  • Conduct outbound cold calls and email outreach to targeted prospects to generate new sales conversations.
  • Evaluate prospective customers’ interests, needs, timelines, and overall fit using established qualification criteria.
  • Schedule meetings with the appropriate sales representative based on customer segment, opportunity type, and assigned territory.
  • Establish a clear next step following each customer interaction, with an emphasis on securing qualified appointments.
  • Perform wellness checks with existing customers to assess satisfaction, identify concerns, and uncover additional needs.
  • Accurately capture customer insights and route follow-up activities to the appropriate sales resource.
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused, and brand-aligned communication style.
  • Record outreach activities, qualification notes, and meeting details accurately in the customer relationship management system.
  • Manage assigned lead queues efficiently and provide timely responses to customer and prospect inquiries.
  • Follow established lead-routing procedures, qualification frameworks, and appointment-setting practices.
  • Collaborate with sales representatives and internal stakeholders to support shared goals and improve conversion outcomes.
  • Work toward established performance measures, including:
    • Number of qualified meetings scheduled
    • Lead-to-appointment conversion rate
    • Response time to new leads
    • CRM accuracy and documentation quality
    • Customer engagement and satisfaction during wellness-check outreach

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Cold-calling or outbound customer outreach experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage prospects confidently and professionally by phone and email.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage tasks, priorities, documentation, and follow-through consistently.
  • Ability to qualify customer needs and translate conversations into clear next steps.
  • Demonstrated ability to work toward and consistently achieve measurable goals.
  • Ability to influence outcomes, collaborate with others, and build effective working relationships across teams and stakeholder groups.
  • Self-motivated and dependable work style, with the ability to remain focused and productive in a remote home-office environment.
  • Ability to follow established processes, accept coaching, incorporate feedback, and learn new concepts quickly.
  • Team-oriented approach with a commitment to collaboration and shared success.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency while working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a customer service, customer experience, sales, or business development environment.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a similar customer relationship management platform.
  • Experience using Five9 or a comparable cloud-based contact center platform.
