About the Role
Our firm is supporting a large U.S.-based enterprise operating at national scale within the retail and technology sector. This organization is building a secure, cloud-based analytics capability to support insider risk and security-focused data analysis.

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Data Engineer / GCP Data Operations Engineer to help configure, operate, and maintain Google Cloud data infrastructure that enables secure ingestion, storage, and recurring analytics workflows. This is a hands-on role focused on cloud data operations, reliability, and access management in a highly governed enterprise environment.


Job Description
As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer / GCP Data Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for standing up and maintaining Google Cloud data infrastructure to enable secure ingestion, storage, and analysis of sensitive data. You will support daily data operations, access management, and scheduled analytics workloads while ensuring compliance with security, privacy, and governance requirements.
You will collaborate closely with cloud engineering, security, analytics, and platform teams to define access models, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that downstream consumers can reliably query cloud-hosted data.

Responsibilities
  • Configure and support Google Cloud projects, APIs, service accounts, IAM roles, permissions, Cloud Storage, and BigQuery resources
  • Partner with cloud engineering, security, infrastructure, and platform teams to request, validate, and maintain access and connectivity
  • Support secure onboarding of sensitive data into Cloud Storage and BigQuery
  • Build and maintain BigQuery datasets, tables, views, scheduled queries, and recurring summary tables
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot scheduled data transfers, query jobs, and analytics workflows
  • Resolve job failures, permission issues, schema changes, data availability problems, and API access challenges
  • Define and validate least-privilege access patterns and service account usage
  • Ensure enterprise environments can securely access and query cloud-hosted analytics data
  • Create and maintain documentation including architecture diagrams, access models, job schedules, runbooks, and support procedures
  • Ensure all data and workflows comply with security, privacy, and governance standards


Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of experience in cloud engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform operations
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Strong experience with GCP project setup, IAM, service accounts, permissions, and APIs
  • Advanced BigQuery experience, including SQL, datasets, tables, views, scheduled queries, and aggregated summary tables
  • Experience onboarding and managing data in Cloud Storage and BigQuery
  • Experience scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting recurring data jobs or pipelines
  • Strong SQL skills for validation, transformation, aggregation, and analytics
  • Solid understanding of cloud IAM, least-privilege access, and permission troubleshooting
  • Experience working with centralized cloud, security, infrastructure, or platform teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive or restricted data under strict governance controls
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting security analytics, insider risk, fraud detection, cybersecurity, or similar use cases
  • Experience with GCP services such as Data Transfer Service, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Run
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Familiarity with Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Splunk, Grafana, or similar observability tools
  • Experience building dashboards for data freshness, job status, or pipeline health
  • Python experience for automation, validation, or operational tooling
  • Experience working in large enterprise cloud environments
  • Familiarity with identity, endpoint, access logs, or security event data
