Worksite Location: Des Moines, IA

What you’ll do as the Site Safety Specialist:

Provide and/or coordinate site-specific safety and environmental training/testing as necessary to address hazards and comply with relevant standards
Work with site manufacturing engineering to conduct safety assessments of new or modified equipment/processes in accordance with the company’s Safety Assessment Procedure
Create and customize detailed safety programs/procedures to meet site-specific environments as needed and ensure availability of PPE
Assist in the completion of any environmental tasks, inspections, and other environmental regulatory tasks as directed
Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify risk factors and work with engineering to implement control measures to address identified ergonomic risk factors
Support location safety and environmental assessments with site management and recommend and assist in the execution of corrective actions
Participate in the coordination of the plant safety committee and routine Enterprise Environmental calls and training
Accurately maintain plant safety and environmental data and training records in accordance with established guidelines and regulations

What you’ll bring to the Site Safety Specialist role:

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Engineering or related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience
2+ years of safety-related and/or environmental management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
Knowledge of government regulations concerning health, safety & the environment
Knowledge of relevant equipment safety standards and hazard control measures
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated customer orientation and collaborative approach
