Site Safety Specialist

Job Description
- Worksite Location: Dubuque, IA
While taking direction from plant management, the Site Safety Specialist coordinates the development and hands-on implementation of a comprehensive industrial safety and environmental program. This position will ensure the alignment with Enterprise Safety and Environmental Services objectives and safe procedures, awareness, and training are conducted with a goal to achieve continuous improvement for the reduction of work-related injuries and illnesses, and related cost reduction strategies.
What you’ll do as the Site Safety Specialist:
- Assist in the development and coordination of the company’s programs to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local codes and regulations
- Provide and/or coordinate site-specific safety and environmental training/testing (e.g., incident investigation, new employee orientation, lockout/tagout, powered industrial trucks, ergonomics, safety inspections, job safety analysis, audiometric testing, LOTO, hazardous waste, stormwater, air compliance, spill response, etc.)
- Work with site manufacturing engineering to conduct safety assessments of new or modified equipment/processes in accordance with the Safety Assessment Procedure
- Conduct ergonomic assessments to identify risk factors and work with engineering to implement control measures to address identified ergonomic risk factors
- Support location safety and environmental assessments (e.g., audits, inspections, accident investigations, etc.); with site management and recommend and assist in the execution of corrective actions
- Participate in the coordination of the plant safety committee and routine enterprise environmental calls and training
- Accurately maintain plant safety and environmental data and training records in accordance with established guidelines and regulationsÂ
- Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering or a related discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of safety-related and/or environmental management experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of government regulations concerning health, safety, and the environment
- Knowledge of relevant equipment safety standards and hazard control measures
- Strong interpersonal/communication skills
- Demonstrated customer orientation and collaborative approachÂ
- Facilitation skills
