Tax Manager Job Description:
A Tax Manager is responsible for efficiently, accurately, and timely preparing all clients’ tax returns.  The ideal candidate will have advanced technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas, along with well-developed management and supervisory skills.

What you’ll do as a Tax Manager:
  • Perform technical tax review of all tax returns (individual, business, trust, gift, not-for-profit, and miscellaneous, as needed)
  • Identify and manage issues and ensure the accuracy of the tax return
  • Assume responsibility for the smooth flow of tax returns through the tax preparation system to assure accurate, complete, and timely preparation and delivery of all clients’ tax returns
  • Perform tax research to resolve issues identified during reviews
  • Communicate to the appropriate firm personnel important tax developments affecting the firm’s clients
  • Develop/refine tax preparation procedures to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the process
  • Work to develop responsible, trained staff by assisting in recruiting, performance evaluations, developing training aids, and acting as an instructor in professional development programs
  • Assume client service responsibility for clients the tax manager works with directly, or where the responsibility is delegated from the partner
  • Supervise the use of ProSystem tax software, communicate updates to be installed, resolve issues, and answer questions related to using the software
  • Supervise electronic filing of tax forms and ensures timely resolution of issues
  • Monitors CCH Workflow software to ensure all tax projects are tracked through the tax preparation and delivery process
What you’ll bring to the Tax Manager role:
  • 6+ years of experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in tax return complexity, scope, and research
  • 1+ years of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or Master’s degree in taxation
  • A current and valid certified public accountant’s license is required OR a current and valid enrolled agent license
  • Proficiency in tax research skills
  • Ability to occasionally do same-day travel for work at client’s offices, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle
  • Ability to occasionally do out-of-town travel with overnight stay for work at client’s offices, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle
  • Ability to occasionally work overtime throughout the year (Heavy overtime work required from January to April 15; may be more than 55 hours per week. Required to work most Saturdays during this time period.)

Senior Accountant Job Description:
This position will play an active role in the month-end close and financial reporting process for designated business units. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong desire to learn and implement process improvements. The ability to prioritize, efficiently plan work activities, and be detail and results-oriented is critical to the position.

What you’ll do as the Senior Accountant:
  • Ensure completion of monthly accounting activities, including journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and other tasks required for financial close
  • Prepare, analyze, and review general ledger account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process
  • Perform accounting and financial analyses to identify key trends and support critical estimates, such as accruals and reserves
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and serve as a business partner to aid in the preparation and reporting of financial results
  • Prepare schedules in support of reporting required for SEC disclosures
  • Perform, document, and support the design and operating effectiveness of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors in connection with audits and reviews
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead efforts to implement solutions related to process efficiencies, standardization, system enhancements, and improved reporting capabilities
  • Support ongoing finance transformation by assisting in efforts to segregate work activity between accounting activities and activities that relate primarily to analysis, planning, forecasting, budgeting, or decision support activities
What you’ll bring to the Senior Accountant role:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, statistics, economics, business, business administration, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in finance and/or accounting
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • CPA, CMA, or CFA certification
  • Experience with SAP and Agris accounting software
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Previous Ag-related experience
  • Enterprise transformation experience
