This contract opportunity is based in Anoka, MN, with a hybrid schedule requiring onsite collaboration initially.
This role will focus on bringing consistency and clarity to a wide range of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and desktop procedures across multiple business units and Accounts Receivable (A/R) functions. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to capture current-state processes and transform them into a standardized, user-friendly format within a centralized documentation platform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technical writer who thrives in complex, multi-system environments and enjoys improving usability, structure, and accessibility of operational documentation. The initial engagement is expected to last 6 months, with potential for extension and additional project work.
Job Description
In this role, you will play a key part in driving consistency and clarity across a complex, multi-entity environment by transforming fragmented and varied process documentation into a standardized, centralized format. You will work across approximately eight business units and multiple Accounts Receivable functions, each with distinct workflows and systems, requiring a strong ability to quickly learn, adapt, and document differences in operational processes. This position combines hands-on content creation with process analysis, requiring both strong writing skills and the ability to evaluate, reorganize, and enhance existing materials to improve usability and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business units and A/R departments to gather, analyze, and document existing workflows and procedures
  • Conduct meetings with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand current-state processes across various operational functions
  • Review and consolidate existing documentation stored across multiple formats (e.g., Word, Excel, and other platforms)
  • Standardize and transition procedures into a consistent format within a centralized system (OneNote)
  • Create approximately 20–25 standardized SOPs and desktop procedures covering diverse operational processes
  • Translate complex workflows, including those across multiple ERP systems, into clear, structured, and user-friendly documentation
  • Ensure documentation reflects best practices in formatting, usability, and accessibility for end users
  • Edit, reorganize, and enhance existing content to improve clarity, consistency, and overall quality
  • Support ongoing process documentation needs related to operational transitions or future process improvement initiatives
  • Partner with teams working across multiple financial systems and tools to accurately capture variations in processes

  • Experience standardizing documentation and implementing consistent formatting across large content sets
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and documentation platforms
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently while driving progress in ambiguous or evolving project environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Accounts Receivable (A/R) or Accounts Payable (A/P) processes
  • Background in accounting, finance operations, or shared services environments
  • Experience working with or documenting processes across multiple ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, M3, or similar platforms)
  • Familiarity with process documentation in multi-entity or multi-business unit organizations
